About Michael Morgan
Founder of Deskhand
From the age of ten, Michael was hooked on technology, building computers, tinkering with software, and playing games that sparked a lifelong curiosity about how things work. That early fascination grew into a career dedicated to helping others get more from their tech.
Michael’s journey in tech started early, selling computers at Curry’s at just 16 years old. That first job wasn’t just sales; it was where his fascination with hardware and problem solving became a lifelong passion. After earning his CompTIA A+ and completing an ICT BTEC with distinction, he began building a career rooted in both technical expertise and genuine customer service.
He went on to hold a range of technical and support roles across HCL and LBM balancing customer-focused experience with practical technical knowledge. His next move took him to Tech Mahindra, where he supported over 3,000 users at MS Amlin Insurance and Leadenhall Capital Partners in London, providing IT support to insurance brokers across 122 Leadenhall Street and the Lloyd’s of London building. During this period, Michael worked on major IT transitions, documentation, and knowledge base development, helping to establish stable and efficient IT service delivery for complex enterprise environments.
That experience led to roles at Capita plc, supporting Northern Ireland’s schools network 500,000+ C2K users, and later at Caterpillar Inc., where he progressed from Desktop Support Engineer to IT Systems Administrator. At Caterpillar, he managed large-scale manufacturing systems, maintaining networks, servers, and production technologies, while leading infrastructure projects and ensuring operational uptime and compliance.
Today, Michael continues to apply his expertise as an Information Technology, helping maintain and improve IT systems for a wide range of clients. His work blends enterprise-level technical knowledge with a hands-on, customer first approach.
After years of seeing how big organisations manage IT, Michael recognised a gap, smaller teams and individuals deserve that same level of reliable, proactive support.
